Prayer against envy and the evil eye
Εὐχὴ ἐπὶ βασκανίαν
Lord our God, King of the ages, who hold the whole of creation in your hand: you turned the flames of the furnace of Babylon to dew and kept the three young men unharmed inside it. Physician of souls and of bodies, look now on your servant. Drive far from me every working of the enemy, every envy, every spell, every evil eye — whatever came by a look, or a word, or a thing given — and let it come apart like smoke in open air. Set your bright angel beside me, to guard my body and my soul, my going out and my coming in. Through the prayers of the Mother of God and of all your saints: for yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, now and for ever, and to ages of ages. Amen.

When this prayer is prayed
From the euchologion, the prayer book of the Christian East, where a prayer against envy and the evil eye has been read over people since antiquity — and still is, in Greece, in Romania, in the Levant. The Church prays it because envy is real and does harm; she attributes no power to the eye itself, and she forbids every amulet against it. The prayer is the whole remedy.
