Deliverance

The blessing of Father Candido

Dominus noster Iesus Christus apud nos sit

May our Lord Jesus Christ be beside us, to defend us; within us, to keep us; before us, to lead us; behind us, to guard us; above us, to bless us. Who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, for ever and ever. Amen.

Pass it on

In Latin

Amen.

When this prayer is prayed

A traditional Latin blessing built like a wall around a person — five prepositions, one for every side. Fr Candido Amantini, exorcist of Rome at the Scala Santa for thirty-six years, and Fr Gabriele Amorth, who learned the office from him, gave it to each other every day. For leaving the house, for the night shift, for a child going to school.
