The Armour of God

Lord, I put on today the whole armour of God, that I may be able to stand against the tactics of the devil. I fasten around me the belt of truth, and I refuse every lie. I put on the breastplate of righteousness, and I renounce every secret sin. I shoe my feet with readiness for the Gospel of peace, and I will go where I am sent. I take up the shield of faith, with which I can quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. I put on the helmet of salvation, and I refuse every thought of despair. I take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, and I will fight with nothing else. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood. Stand firm, therefore. Amen.
Πότε λέγεται αυτή η προσευχή
In the morning, in spiritual combat, and for anyone who works where souls are at stake. The armour is St Paul's, from a prison cell, looking at the Roman soldier chained to him (Eph 6:10–17).
