Holy Spirit, give me wisdom, that I may value what heaven values. Give me understanding, that I may see what my faith believes. Give me counsel, that I may choose rightly when the way divides. Give me fortitude, that I may not abandon what is right when it becomes costly. Give me knowledge, that I may see created things as they are, and not as I want them. Give me piety, that I may love God as a child loves a father. Give me fear of the Lord, not the fear of a slave, but the fear of a lover who dreads only to wound the one he loves. Amen.
