Before the Blessed Sacrament

Adoration at Home

Light a candle and set it where you can see it. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Lord Jesus Christ, you are present in every tabernacle on earth, and tonight I cannot reach one. Let the walls be nothing to you. (Silence. Ten slow breaths, or as long as you are able.) I believe that you are truly present in the most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things. Since I cannot receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. Remember your Church in this place: the priests who were sent away, the bishops who cannot come home, those who are afraid to be seen praying. Keep the doors of our houses open while the doors of the churches are shut. Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory be… May the Lord bless us, keep us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. Put out the candle.

Pass it on

When this prayer is prayed

When there is no church you can reach, no priest who can come, and no procession you are permitted to walk in — at home, at a table, alone or with the household. It asks for nothing that can be taken away from you.
